  Another FAQ30 Jun 2006

Q: What if it rains?

A: Let’s bring some umbrellas.

Q: Why?

A: So we don’t get wet.

Q: Any particular umbrella?

A: Any color will do. But avoid those giveaway umbrellas.

Q: Can we play with the rain?

A: Yes, by all means. But don’t get our cameras wet. We will play with you but with an umbrella.

Q: How about our make-up?

A: The make-up artist can answer that. In my experience, you can’t easily remove make-up with water.

The conversation can go on and on but the point is, rain doesn’t really matter.

You use umbrella not to get wet. Right?

This is a good way to test your make-up.

Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces up, snow is exhilirating; there is no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather.John Ruskin

Do you do video?22 Jun 2006

No.  At least, not in the near future.

This is still the most frequently asked question.

Why not?

I also ask myself that question.  I’m a lover of video and movies.  I once was a classic movie addict renting all the 1930s to 1960s movies in Betamax.  I have a huge collection of DVDs ranging from comedy, documentary, action, classic, etc.

I’ve been following all the moves of Jason Magbanua and I know I’m capable of delivering very good wedding videos.  But still, NO, not this time.

I got my three hands full of what I’m doing right now already.  My fourth hand is also tied up with my laptop, very busy blogging.

For now, get either Jason or Threelogy.  They are the best in the industry.

Wedding videos have never been as creative as today.  I’m always surprised of what people can do with videos.

Watch this.

Sunday Bloody Sunday is one of my favorite U2 songs and now sung by no less than…
I can’t believe the news today
Oh, I can’t close my eyes
And make it go away!

How long?
How long must we sing this song?
How long?? How long??

‘Cause tonight, we can be as one

Broken bottles under children’s feet
Bodies strewn across the dead end street!
But I won’t heed the battle call
It puts my back up
Puts my back up against the wall!

Sunday, Bloody Sunday
Sunday, Bloody Sunday
Sunday, Bloody Sunday (Bloody Sunday)

All right let’s go !

And the battle’s just begun
There’s many lost, but tell me who has won?
The trench is dug within our hearts
And mothers, children, brothers, sisters
Torn apart!

Sunday, Bloody Sunday
Sunday, Bloody Sunday

How long?
How long must we sing this song?
How long?? How looong??

‘Cause tonight, we can be as one
Toniight, tonight

Sunday, Bloody Sunday (tonight)
(tonight)Sunday, Bloody Sunday(tonight)

(let’s go!)

Wipe the tears from your eyes
Wipe your tears away
Oh, wipe your tears away
Oh, wipe your tears away
…Sunday, Bloody Sunday…
Oh, wipe your blood shot eyes
…Sunday, Bloody Sunday…
Sunday, Bloody Sunday -Sunday, Bloody Sunday… Ah..
Sunday, Bloody Sunday -Sunday, Bloody Sunday… Ah..

And it’s true we are immune
When fact is fiction and TV reality!
And today the millions cry
We eat and drink while tomorrow they die!

(Sunday, Bloody Sunday)
The real battle yet begun(Sunday, Bloody Sunday)
To claim the victory Jesus won(Sunday, Bloody Sunday)
…Sunday, Bloody Sonday… Sunday, Bloody Sunday…

  Marriage13 Jun 2006

I’m in a thinking mood today.  My mind is giving me hyperacidity. :)

I’ll give you something to think about.

“Marriage is our last, best chance to grow up.”  – Joseph Barth

“Marriage: The state or condition of a community consisting of a master, a mistress and two slaves, making in all, two.”  – Ambrose Bierce

“The very essence of romance is uncertainty.  If I ever marry, I’ll try to forget the fact”  – Oscar Wilde

How do you define a Perfect Wedding?09 Jun 2006

Last May 12-14, we had a typhoon in the middle of summer.  That’s weird but it happened.  Common reaction will be it has ruined so many weddings that time.

I had a Caleruega wedding on the 12th and 14th and in Makati on 13th.  In my own definition, they were all perfect weddings.

My May12 wedding was carefully planned and the couple allotted quite a big budget for their wedding.  I’m sure if they can buy the weather, they will.  Imagine a wedding at Caleruega and reception at Antonio’s.  Imagine a gown by Monique Lhuillier and make up by Patrick Rosas.  All the things were coordinated by Bridesmaid.  Of course, Jason and I were there (feeling celebrity :) ).

But it was raining all day.  You can’t drive more than 20kph because of fog and fallen trees on the road.  One typhoon to ruin them all you might say.

Despite the typhoon, it was a perfect wedding and destined to be that way no matter what.  People were all laughing at it.  The mood that day was very festive.  In short, I don’t need to ask for their perfect smiles -it was there all around.  Pictures turned out great.  Same goes for my May 13th and 14th wedding.  They enjoyed their day.

Again, how do you get a perfect wedding?

Pretty simple actually.  Plan for it.  Make a lot of research and cost/budget planning.  Though it’s hard, but you got to know what you want and what you need and be able to decide without regret.  Last thing and most important thing – enjoy the bloopers. :)

Don’t live with someone’s else definition of a perfect wedding.  Make your own definition and live with it. Same goes with LIFE and SUCCESS.  :)

Do you really need a photographer?08 Jun 2006

In my experience, there’s always a guests who has their own gear and would take a lot of pictures the whole day.  Sometimes, their gadget is more sophisticated than ours.  Those point & shoot digital cameras now produce outstanding results comparable to DSLR cameras.  Even camera phones now are amazing.
guest photographers

With the increasing prices of wedding photographers, do you need a professional one?  If you ask me, of course I’d say Yes.  Just thinking of my family, I’ll shout a big YES.  But looking at the picture, you’re covered.

These are the practical reasons:

1.  It’s 8-10 sometimes 12 hours of hard work.  You won’t ask that from your relatives or close friends.

2.  We know who prints well.  Not all photo labs are created equal.

3.  We make very nice albums.

4.  We know the day’s flow.

5.  We know the restrictions of every church.

6.  We have reliable equipment and back-ups.

I can list more reasons like related to creativity, new trends, latest albums, etc. but you know more or less that a professional photographer is a must.
Do you really need a photographer?  Yes.  Do you need an expensive one?  Yes, if you want it and NO, if you don’t need it.

Most photographers I know would say that your pictures is the only thing will remain after the wedding.  True.  But as listed above, it’s more than that.

Ask yourself again.  What do you need?  What do you want? How much can you spend?

The simple analysis is this, if you really like pictures, spend on it.  Not just because you can, but because it’s something you want to buy for yourself.
