| Not our usual Portraits | 28 Apr 2008 |
In our wedding yesterday, we had a pictorial in front of 1esplanade for a sunset shot. I would normally ask the couple to sit or walk or just be whatever they want to be and we’ll just capture everything.
This time I asked my bride Neriza to let her veil fly. It’s not easy as it looks as we don’t have control of the wind. But it’s fun.
Anyway, I hope you like these. :)
| Photographer of the Year! | 23 Apr 2008 |
I’m so happy to announce that I won the Photographer of the Year award for Artistic Guild of Wedding Photojournalist Association (AGWPJA) Year 2007.
Before anyone can join AGWPJA, one must win in the quarterly contest of Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA). Sort of an elite group within the organization. :)
Anyway, I just joined WPJA last year March (2007) and I placed in the top 10 in the first quarter contest which qualified me to be a member of AGWPJA. I was not really expecting to win something as big as this but I really worked hard to justify my membership there. Winning the Photographer of the Year is really a very big deal for me and I’m very proud to share it with you.
Another thing that thrilled me is that I’m in a list with Jeff Ascough and Anna Kuperberg. They are already icons in the wedding photography industry worldwide. I’m just 4 points ahead of Jeff and this image did it.
Judge’s Comments: 1. The absolute rock-star image of this quarterly contest! The lights create direction throughout the image and the laying of hands forces your eye inward to the couple. The soft B&W toning gives this image a nice feel and flow. Kudos to the photographer!
